All About Computer Networks

Computers have been an integral part of many businesses' operations over the years. All businesses require the services of computer support, maintenance and installation. The number of computers required to run a business grows. To ensure that computers work efficiently, it is important to have a system for connecting them. Computers are interconnected in many ways. This is the concept behind a computer network.

What is a computer network?

A computer network is a collection of computers that are connected to each other in order to share resources. Internet is the most commonly shared resource. Other resources include printers and file servers. The network computers can be connected wirelessly via radio waves or Ethernet cables.

We will now see how individual computers within a network are connected.

Nodes are computers that are connected to a network.

Star Topology:

This is because there is a central point from which all connections to computers are made. This means that even if a cable is damaged, other computers can still function normally. This type of connection, however, requires a lot more cabling.

Bus Topology:

All computers in this scenario are connected using one cable. All the information must travel through the nodes to reach the computer that it is intended. It requires very little cabling. All computers will be affected if the cable is damaged.

Ring Topology:

This topology connects all computers through one cable. End nodes are also connected to one another. The signal travels through the network to reach its intended recipient. If a network node has been configured incorrectly, or if there are other issues, the signal may make multiple attempts to reach the intended recipient.

Collapsed Topology for a Ring:

The central node in this example is a network device, also known as the router, switch, hub or router. This device is connected to the network by a ring of plugins that allow for cable connections. Each computer can be connected to the device using its own cables.

To ensure that their computers run smoothly, each organization selects its own topology for the computer network. After the computers have been connected, the offices will also have separate cabling closets. This is basically a space that houses a switch device that connects with the network.

Many computer network companies offer support services, including maintenance and installation. This will ensure that your system runs smoothly.
